This project revisits the phrase by translating it to morse code, then played with a loudspeaker inside one of the bunker’s main hall. It used all the resonant force of the space to create a natural reverb effect. Thereby setting the rhythm of the piece as a statement: NO MORE WAR!
The composition itself was made out of underwater microphones built to record the reverberation of wind and water from the beach in front of the bunker, where the submarines were supposed to reach the river.
Created based on the text “Uncounted” by Emily Roysdon and inspired by the works of Alvin Lucier’s “I am sitting in a room” and Virginia Woolf’s “The Waves”.
The work addresses the relevance of speech by playing with repetition and the potential of making and breaking structures.
This sound piece is a studio recording of the performance made at Schwankhalle Bremen, in 2017. The original recording was edited to fit this video’s duration.
And that is precisely what the 1nt3rn3t project is about: ”Naturstudium” seating and observing the internet as a digital landscape inspiration, yet not like the mentioned artists, this project uses the internet as a working material. The randomness and sarcasm taken from the digital world are key elements to set this project’s mood. The final outcome is an immersive walk through an exhibition taking place inside the internet which was inspired by the phrase “Welcome to the internet, I will be your guide”.
